THE KENTUCKY PERINATAL ASSOCIATION ONLINE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM
Health Professional Education On Prematurity II (HPEP II)
The Late Preterm Birth |
 |
The rate of preterm births continues to increase statewide and nationwide. This increasing trend in preterm birth will prevent the nation from achieving the Healthy People 2010 objective of reducing preterm birth rate to 7.6%. In identifying which groups of preterm births account for the increasing prematurity rate, it is evident that the increase in prematurity is due to a marked increase in late preterm births. This web-based course will address the scope of preterm birth as a public health problem, and the complications associated with late preterm births and therefore the rationale for a public health focus in preventing late preterm births.
